PACK9 Meet and Greet @ Ciocca Subaru of York - Jill L

PA Caring for K9's (PACK9) is an all-breed dog rescue based out of Pennsylvania. At PACK9, adoptable dogs and puppies reside in foster homes until they are adopted which provides an easier transition into their furever homes. PACK9 is run solely on volunteer efforts, without any paid employees. Our dogs and puppies are primarily saved in coordination with our rescue partners from overcrowded kill-shelters in Alabama and Georgia. The dogs and puppies are brought up to date on vaccines, fixed (if age appropriate) and treated for their other medical conditions/injuries. Once healthy, they are transported north to Pennsylvania. Since we do not have a physical shelter location, adopters must travel to the foster's home to meet their potential new family memember. Meet and Greet events allow adopters to meet multiple dogs at a time and brings more public awareness. We couldn't do it without our community partners and were are very grateful to have a partnership with Ciocca Subaru of York.

Yorktown Park - Community raised garden boxes and picnic tables. - Thomas L

On Tuesday, June 20, 2025, volunteers from Ciocca Subaru and members of the Subaru Ambassador Program, under the direction of Doug Augburn, came into Yorktown Park and replanted the ten raised garden boxes with vegetables, herbs and flowers and added two new picnic tables to a recently constructed pavilion in the park. 2025, marks the third year in a row that Ciocca Subaru of York has taken Yorktown Park under its wing and created recreational opportunities for the community who live around Yorktown Park. Because of this effort, residents of all ages have the opportunity to harvest seasonal vegetables and herbs that they can take home and cook, flowers that can be cut to be placed in a vase on a kitchen table and have the opportunity to watch wildlife, such as butterflies and humming birds, as they pollinate the garden. This year, Ciocca Subaru invested additional funding towards purchasing two brand new picnic tables which are placed underneath the pavilion in Yorktown Park. Because of the new picnic tables, park patrons now have a shaded place to sit and enjoy a picnic, read a book or play a game or even just sit back and watch children who are busy at play. In conclusion, the year 2025 marks the third year for Ciocca Subaru adopting Yorktown Park. Because of their commitment, York City residents are given an opportunity to enjoy gardening, provided nutritional opportunities for their families and now have two new picnic tables where they can sit to enjoy a shaded space and to experience all that Yorktown Park has to offer. Thank you Ciocca Subaru for your three-year commitment to supporting our neighborhood park. Your dedication to our York City community truly supports the City of York as being a place where residents can work, live and play.

Imagine going without a coat, shoes, or even socks. For millions of children and adults experiencing homelessness and other urgent need situations across the country, even here in York, this is a harsh reality. PA Caring for K9s (PACK9) is an all-breed dog rescue based out of Pennsylvania. We are run solely by volunteer efforts without any paid employees. We do not have a physical shelter location. All dogs are in foster homes which helps acclimate them to every day life in preparation for their furever families. Our dogs primarily come from high-kill shelters in Alabama and Georgia. Ciocca Subaru of York graciously hosts our rescue on average 3x a year. The events allow for approved adopters and the public to socialize with our dogs and potentially take home their new family member. We may even be guilty of stealing the attention of a few customers and employees, but who can blame them! We are furever grateful to the continued support of Ciocca Subaru of York.

Ciocca Subaru Blankets Bell Family Shelter in Warmth - Melissa M

Nothing compares to the heartwarming feeling of seeing a community unite to support those in need. Thanks to Subaru’s incredible Blanket & Sock Drive, families at Bell Family Shelter are receiving cozy blankets and warm socks that will make all the difference during the colder days. Among the donations were adorable Minion blankets and soft, cozy throws—perfect for the kids at the Shelter to snuggle up with. One of our volunteers shared how Subaru’s support goes above and beyond: “When a family leaves, we ask them what they need and go get it for them—so they don’t have to pay for these things. These blankets will go with them to their new homes." Subaru doesn’t just provide resources—they bring the community together in meaningful ways. For that, we are beyond grateful!

Ciocca Subaru Delivers Warmth to the Families at Bell Family Shelter - Melissa M

As the first signs of winter's chill began to settle over the community, something truly heartwarming arrived at Bell Family Shelter. The incredible team at Ciocca Subaru delivered 110 cozy coats, offering families staying at the shelter a much-needed boost of warmth and kindness. When the coats arrived, a wave of excitement filled the air. The news quickly spread throughout the shelter, and families gathered in the lobby. Parents and children alike browsed through the coats, each person finding the perfect fit to keep them warm. The joy in the room was easily felt, as smiles lit up the faces of everyone present. Subaru's team, along with Bell staff, worked side by side, distributing the coats with care and making sure every family member was wrapped in comfort. These coats weren’t just about fabric—they were a symbol of the care and community spirit that can make all the difference in someone's life.

Subaru Loves Pets Month Adoption Event - Jill L

On Saturday 10/19, we held our 3rd and final adoption event of the year at Ciocca Subaru of York. The weather was beautiful and so many people stopped by to say hi. While pre-approved adopters can adopt at these events, it also allows potential adopters and even total strangers to our organization meet multiple dogs at once. We've even been able to recruit new fosters at these events which is crucial to the survival of our rescue organization. Every employee at Ciocca Subaru of York is welcoming and even offer to help the day of. Plus, who doesn't love some puppy cuddles in the middle of your work day, right? PA Caring for K9s (PACK9) is an all breed, foster based dog rescue. We run 100% on volunteer efforts and have no paid employees. We do not have a physical shelter and all of our dogs are cared for in foster homes until they are adopted by their furever families. We would not be able to operate with the support of the community, especially Ciocca Subaru of York. Pictures: Bo with his fosters Raspberry and Ragnar on the way to the event. July Rescue Event - Bethany P

On July 13th, we hosted our second event of the year at Ciocca Subaru of York. Despite the change in ownership, our long-standing partnership with this dealership has remained strong, and we’re truly grateful for their continued support. Our volunteers, fosters, and dogs always feel the warmth and kindness from the company and its employees! PACK9 (PA Caring for K9s) is an all-breed, foster-based dog rescue organization focused on saving dogs from southern regions where overpopulation leads to daily euthanizations due to limited shelter space. We run entirely on volunteer efforts, with no paid staff. At our event, attendees had the chance to meet nearly 15 dogs of various ages currently in our care. The visibility and engagement from the event led to two adoptions on the same day. Additionally, over half a dozen families began the application process after meeting us, some of whom had previously adopted through our traditional meet-and-greet events. We are incredibly thankful for Subaru’s ongoing support and eagerly anticipate our next event in October!

Yorktown Park - Community Raised Garden Boxes - Thomas L

On Tuesday, May 14, 2024, employees from Ciocca Subaru of York and volunteers from the Subaru Ambassadors Program descended into Yorktown Park and renovated ten raised garden boxes intended for community gardens. With-in a couple of hours, ten weathered and weed filled boxes were transformed into viable containers that could support vegetables that can now help feed the neighboring community around Yorktown Park. Not only did Ciocca Subaru transform this area into a functioning garden space, the project now offers resident both young and old the opportunity to enjoy gardening and creates another recreation outlet that can be sustained for a lifetime. The City of York is extremely grateful for the support that Ciocca Subaru and the Subaru Ambassadors has shown towards our Park System. This project not only helped to beautify Yorktown Park, but it also created an opportunity for City Residents to harvest vine ripened vegetables at no cost. Thank you Ciocca Subaru for re-creating this space which now promotes nutritional opportunities and benefits the overall health of our children and residents of the City of York. Job well done!
